In addition to my work in Critical AI and Data Literacy education, I develop anti-racist educational materials to decolonise the STEM curriculum.
The Science of Race and Racism
This course started off in 2023 as a one-semester optional 4th year honours module offered by the Biology department at the University of St Andrews. It ran in this format for 3 years. In September 2025 we shifted to the innovative VIP (Vertically Integrated Project) model, which runs across a full year, and accepts students from any degree programme and any level (from 1st year undergraduates to masters students) across the university. Students work with faculty and each other on a creative project aimed at communicating the science of race and racism to a public audience.

The course won an ACE Course Design Award in 2025, and as part of this, our teaching materials are available through the Cultural Evolution Society’s Teaching Materials Library.
The course also won the inaugural Inclusive Teaching Award from the University of St Andrews in 2026.
Anti-racist maths in schools
The organisation Scotdec, in association with Education Scotland, has developed a suite of high-quality anti-racist maths resources for schools. I worked with them to develop the data literacy lessons.
