I am a science communicator and educator with an interdisciplinary background. This includes an undergraduate Masters in Physics and Philosophy (Balliol College, Oxford), a Masters in Linguistics and Cognitive Science (UC San Diego), a PhD in Language Evolution (University of Edinburgh), and five years as a postdoctoral researcher in Evolutionary Biology (University of St Andrews).
I am passionate about inclusive, interdisciplinary education in all its forms, but particularly in relation to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths).
I currently work at the University of Edinburgh on a number of projects integrating Data Literacy and Critical AI Literacy into the Scottish School Curriculum. In this role, I develop teaching resources for primary and secondary school level, and run workshops with both teachers and learners.
I also co-teach a module at the University of St Andrews on The Science of Race and Racism, with Professor Kevin Lala and colleagues.
I was privileged to take part in the 2025 ScienceWrite Programme, and now also do some freelance writing. Read my published work.
